Send a screenshot to ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor
Send to opens your AI app with the capture already pasted, ready for your question. It’s free, with no limit.
- Capture and mark up what you want to ask about.
- Press Send on the toolbar and pick the app, or press 1 to 4 for the first four in the list.
- The app opens with the image in its message box. Type your question.
Turn on Paste automatically and Glintshot pastes for you once the app is in front. macOS asks for Accessibility access the first time; on Linux it needs X11 and xdotool.
Ask right on the capture
Ask opens a small panel above the toolbar and shows the answer there, with a button to copy it. Pick a quick question or type your own:
- Explain what an error or a screen means.
- Bug report: steps, what happened and what was expected, from what’s on screen.
- Extract table into text you can paste into a spreadsheet.
- Summarize a long page, chart or thread.
- Alt text for the image, copied to your clipboard.
Ask shows up once a model is set in Settings › AI: a local model through Ollama or LM Studio, Claude or any OpenAI-compatible service with your own API key, or a command-line tool such as Claude Code, Gemini CLI or Cursor CLI. The panel says where the image goes before you send it.
Before you send
Anything in the capture goes to the app or the model. Run Auto-redact first to blur emails, card numbers and API keys, or crop to just the part that matters.
Questions
Can I use my ChatGPT or Claude subscription?
With Send to, yes: Glintshot opens the app you’re already signed in to and pastes the capture there, so it counts against your plan like anything else you paste. Ask inside Glintshot uses a local model, an API key or a command-line tool instead.
Which apps can I send to?
Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and Cursor are found on their own when installed. Add any other app in Settings › Send to, and reorder or hide the list there.
Is Send to free?
Yes, with no limit. So are Ask and alt text with your own key or a local model.
